Functional Block

Explanation

This is the basic building block of a functional block diagram.

Anatomy

All descriptor text inherits from a matching Text Kind (style). The Text Kind property determines the font, size, color, visibility, etc.

Manufacturer - Displays the Manufacturer Name. Inherits from the Text Kind: Manufacturer.

Model - Displays the Model Name. Inherits from the Text Kind: Model.

SysName - Displays the SysName. Inherits from the Text Kind: SysName.

Alias - Displays the Alias. Inherits from the Text Kind: Alias.

Location - Displays the Location data. Inherits from the Text Kind: Location.

Left-hand Port Connectors. Inherits from the Text Kind: Left Connectors.

Left-hand Port Names. Inherits from the Text Kind: Left Ports.

Left-hand Port Signal Types. Exposed by right-clicking to show the context menu. Then select Show/Hide Signal Types for Editing. The signal type is not meant to be shown and is normally hidden. Therefore it does not have a Text Kind.

Right-hand Port Connectors. Inherits from the Text Kind: Right Connectors.

Right-hand Port Names. Inherits from the Text Kind: Right Ports.

Right-hand Port Signal Types. Exposed by right-clicking to show the context menu. Then select Show/Hide Signal Types for Editing. The signal type is not meant to be shown and is normally hidden. Therefore it does not have a Text Kind.

 

Context Menus

Right-clicking a Connector text will display the following context menus:

Remove Port - remove the port upon which you right-clicked.

Show/Hide Signal Types for Editing - toggle the signal types into view replacing the connector names.

Remove Side Ports - removes ALL ports on this side.

Hide Port - hides the port upon which you right-clicked.

Show All Ports - shows all hidden ports.

Move Port Up - moves the port upon which you right-clicked up one in the list unless it is the top.

Move Port Down - moves the port upon which you right-clicked down one in the list unless it is the bottom.

Show All Connectors - shows all connector text.

Hide All Connectors - hides all connector text.

Upload to Master Library - adds equipment to Master Library

 

Right-clicking a Port Name will display the following context menus:

Add Left Port - adds a single port to the left-hand side.

Add Right Port - adds a single port to the right-hand side.

Add Ports ... - adds multiple ports to either side or both sides. See How to Add Ports.

Show/Hide Signal Types for Editing - toggle the signal types into view replacing the connector names.

Show/Hide Manufacturer - toggles the visibility of the Manufacturer field.

Show/Hide Model - toggles the visibility of the Model field.

Show/Hide SysName - toggles the visibility of the SysName field.

Show/Hide Alias - toggles the visibility of the Alias field.

Show/Hide Location - toggles the visibility of the Location field.

Show/Hide All - toggles the visibility of ALL block descriptors.
