Move a Cable

Explanation

This topic outlines the process to reposition a cable.

Note that this function can be undone by moving the block on either end of the cable and causing the cable routing tool to take over.

 

Assumptions

You have created a project.

You have created a drawing.

You have added two functional blocks to the drawing.

You have added a cable to the drawing.

Steps

1.Select the cable that you want to reposition. This will display its grips. Grips appear at the endpoints and midpoints of line segments.

2. Click & drag a grip to move it.

3. Done.

 

The grips have different behaviors:

StartPoint/Endpoint grips - Detach from the current port and attach to another port.

Vertex grips - move the vertex pair to reposition the cable orthagonally. The vertex grips cannot be moved in a direction that would cause the segment to detach/re-attach.

Midpoint grips - add a new segment.
