Keyboard Shortcuts

Shortcuts for the drawing editor and the help panel.

Drawing shortcuts work when the drawing has keyboard focus. Click an empty spot on the drawing first if a shortcut doesn’t respond, for example after using a menu or typing in the property window. If you have view-only access to a project, the drawing shortcuts are turned off.

Saving and help

Keys	Action
`Ctrl`+`S`	Save the drawing (File > Save).
`F1`	Open the help panel at the topic for what you’re looking at. Works anywhere in the editor and on the dashboard pages.
`Esc`	Close the help panel.

Editing

Keys	Action
`Ctrl`+`Z` or `Alt`+`Backspace`	Undo.
`Ctrl`+`Y` or `Alt`+`Shift`+`Backspace`	Redo.
`Ctrl`+`C` or `Ctrl`+`Insert`	Copy the selection.
`Ctrl`+`X` or `Shift`+`Delete`	Cut the selection.
`Ctrl`+`V` or `Shift`+`Insert`	Paste.
`Delete` or `Backspace`	Delete the selection.
`Ctrl`+`A`	Select everything in the drawing.
`Esc`	Cancel what you’re doing, or clear the selection.
`F2`	Edit the text of the selected item.
`Ctrl`+`G`	Group the selection.
`Ctrl`+`Shift`+`G`	Ungroup the selected group.
Context menu key	Open the right-click menu for the selection.

Copy and paste also work from one drawing to another in the same browser.

Moving items

Keys	Action
Arrow keys	Move the selection one grid step: 0.1 in on an inch page, 1 mm on a cm page, 0.1 mm on a mm page.
`Ctrl`+arrow keys	Move the selection one pixel.

The arrow keys move selected items whether or not Snap to Grid is on. With nothing selected they do nothing. See Page Setup and Drawing Settings.

Zooming and scrolling

Keys	Action
`+` (or keypad `+`)	Zoom in.
`-` (or keypad `-`)	Zoom out.
`Ctrl`+`0`	Reset the zoom to 100%.
`Shift`+`Z`	Zoom to fit the whole drawing.
`Page Up` / `Page Down`	Scroll up or down a screen.
`Shift`+`Page Up` / `Shift`+`Page Down`	Scroll left or right a screen.
Mouse wheel	Zoom in and out around the pointer.

Drawing polylines and polygons

While you draw with the polyline or polygon tool:

Keys	Action
`Enter`	Finish the shape at the last point you clicked.
`Z`	Remove the last point.
`Esc`	Cancel the shape.
Right-click	Finish the shape.

Mouse and modifier keys

Action	Result
`Shift` while dragging a rack panel	Detaches the panel from its rack as you drag it out.
`Shift` while dropping an item	Places the item without snapping to guidelines (when Show Guidelines is on).
Right-click a rack panel > Detach	Detaches the panel from its rack.
Right-click a rack > Detach all	Detaches every panel from the rack.
